Smart Gluing – Great Success for Planatol at drupa 2016

The world’s biggest printing fair from May, 31 to June, 10 2016 in Dusseldorf was a great success seen from the perspective of Planatol. Many visitors from all over the world came to Dusseldorf to get more information on technological innovations and further developments. The upward trend in the printing industry was clearly noticeable. Planatol presented its reaction to future challenges of print finishing with new technologies and advancements and informed the mainly international visitors about numerous applications.

The visitors showed great interest in the new adhesive technology Planamelt. Planatol Wetzel created with this hotmelt an innovative technology, which fills the gap between advantages of common EVA adhesives, and very high quality, but expensive PUR adhesives. At drupa Planamelt was presented in the practical 1, 5 kg Smart Box. This packaging unit is suitable for customers with small machines and short runs.

Another very important topic this year was digital printing. Many visitors showed increased interest in adhesives that are compatible for digital printing. In this context the new product family Jetline was introduced, which is especially developed for fold gluing in digital printing and oriented to its challenges. Jetline adhesives are suitable for a variety of paper types and qualities. Together with the sister company Planatol System, which was also present at the stand, individual agreed solutions of machines and adhesives can be configured.

System’s highlight at this year’s drupa was an articulated-arm robot from Mitsubishi Electric Europe B.V. With this robot a wide range of adhesive applications were demonstrated live to the visitors.

The visitors were also into the finishing process of printing and especially in the fold line from manroland web systems -, with a Coldjet-fold-gluing system which had been integrated by Planatol System.

Furthermore Planatol System presented Coldjet- and Hotjet gluing systems in combination with the control unit Duojet, as well as the possibility for wireless control via WLAN or with the help of an app for tablet computers and smart phones.

Looking back, drupa 2016 with its individual and technologically new developments was a great success for Planatol. Interesting conversations, a variety of new contacts and strengthened customer relations give the whole team of Planatol a motivated outlook to 2020.
